Cara Young
Solicitor
Cara represents clients detained under the Mental Health Act in tribunal hearings and hospital managers hearings and is an Accredited member of the Law Society’s Mental Health panel. Cara is also instructed in matters before the Court of Protection. Cara has practiced as a solicitor for over 14 years and has previously specialised in criminal law.
Cara studied Law and Spanish in Cardiff university, spending her third year studying law in Madrid. Cara went on to complete a masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and then the Legal Practice Course in Cardiff.
Cara returned to live locally and in her spare time enjoys spending time in the outdoors and on the beach but mainly running around after her children. Cara is also a board member of the West Wales Action for Mental Health, a school governor and secretary of a local cylch meithrin.
Cara is dedicated and passionate about providing expert legal advice in both Mental Health Law and Mental Capacity Law. Cara believes that each and every person should be treated fairly and protected during the most vulnerable of times, throughout recovery and rehabilitation.

Peter Maxfield – Martin
Solicitor
Peter is an Accredited member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel and has extensive experience in this area of law. Peter qualified in 1989 and represents clients who are detained under the Mental Health Act before tribunals and hospital managers hearings. Peter is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Mental Health Law and is always willing to go that extra mile for his clients.
David Keith James
Solicitor
Keith is a very well respected solicitor in this area of law and covers the South Wales and South West areas. We are privileged to have such a wealth of knowledge in the firm. Keith represents clients who are detained under the Mental Health Act before tribunal hearings and hospital manager’s hearings.
Keith is originally from Llanelli but is now based in the New Inn, Pontypool area.
Keith studied Law at the University of Glamorgan and the College of Law, Chester. Qualifying in 1992, Keith was a criminal duty solicitor from 1996 to 2010 and has been an accredited member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Law Panel since 2000.
In Keith’s spare time he has a keen interest in politics and can be found on the local council.

Clare Freitas-Smith
Legal Secretary
Clare is originally from Llanelli but has spent time in Plymouth and Oxford before moving back to Llanelli where she is settled as she was missing family and the sea!
Clare has several administrative qualifications and has been a secretary for over 20 years, a legal secretary over the past 10 years and is also a qualified medical secretary. The work that Clare does is invaluable to the smooth running of the firm. Clare is dedicated to providing a caring and efficient service to all of our clients.
In Clare’s spare time you will find her swimming in the sea at Burry Port, going to live music gigs and entertaining family and friends with food and music in her garden.
